Today kicks off the first Red Friday over at Operation Write Home. For those of you who don't know, Operation Write Home supports our nation's armed forces by sending blank greeting cards for them to write home on. I just recently learned about Operation Write Home and have already made 77 cards in support of our nation's armed forces.
Today's card was made for my niece’s birthday. Her birthday was actually yesterday but the family isn't able to get together until Sunday to celebrate. Happy Birthday, Ashley!!! She is a fellow stamper so I'm anxious to hear what she thinks. I haven’t told her about my blog yet so I should be safe posting this ahead of time.
The card base is Blue Bayou layered with a slightly smaller piece of Soft Sky cardstock. Next I attached a strip of Pumpkin Pie cardstock layered with a slightly smaller piece of patterned paper from the Creative License Simply Scrappin Kit. I kept the Pumpkin Pie cardstock and patterned paper flush with the edge of the Soft Sky cardstock so that the Blue Bayou cardstock makes a pretty frame around it. Next I wrapped Pumpkin Pie Grosgrain Ribbon around the card base and tied a bow in front.
The image was stamped Basic Black on Whisper White using the Girlfriends stamp set and colored in using Stampin' Write Markers. I paper pierced the edges and punched the corners using the Corner Rounder Punch then layered it on to a slightly larger piece of Blue Bayou cardstock also with rounded corners. The image was attached to the card base using Scotch Foam Mounting Tape.
Hope you have a great weekend!
