The Mummy

I think Halloween is a fun time of year! I really enjoy seeing all the costumes the kids dress up in. Last year we ran out of candy at 120 trick-or-treaters. In previous years we've given out bite size candy bars but this year we are upgrading to standard size candy bars for the bigger kids and snack size bags of M&M's for the little ones. This is going to sound outrageous but I have 160 candy bars and 60 bags of M&M's to pass out this year.

As for my Halloween card... I really wanted to use up some of my patterned paper scraps so I made this card to send to our families for Halloween this year. The layout is a Stamping Bella Bellarific Friday Sketch. The card base is Basic Black cardstock layered with Dark Lovely Lilac. Over it I layered pieces of Fright Night Words and Mummy patterned paper. The image was stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black on Whisper White cardstock using the Booglie Eyes stamp set and was colored in using Watercolor Wonder Crayons and a blender pen.

Using my Deckled Rectangles Nestabilities I cut out the image and layered it onto a slightly larger piece of Basic Black cardstock also cut out using the Deckled Rectangles Nestabilities. The sentiment was stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black on a piece of Dark Lovely Lilic cardstock and was attached using Black Crushed Velvet Brads.

Hope you have a Spooktacular Halloween!

Dressed To Scare

I came down with a cold last week and had the flu over the weekend so I didn't get very much time in my craft room this past weekend. I did spend a couple hours last night though creating this Halloween card. I was able to get just enough done to send to some close friends of ours. I think I will make a few extra to send to Operation Write Home for next year!

The card base is Basic Black cardstock layered with a slightly smaller piece of Web Flat patterned paper. The shadow layer is Halloween Flat patterned paper layered on a slightly larger piece of Basic Black cardstock.

The image was stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black on PTI White using the Dressed to Scare stamp and was colored in using Stampin Write Markers. The spider was also stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black on PTI White but was cut out and attached over the Black Cobweb Felt Fushion. To finish off the card I added a couple Black Crushed Velvet Brads and a Dark Purple Glimmer Bow.

Hope you have a wonderful day!

Soft Summer

Hope you're having a great weekend! I'm an early bird so I thought I would pop in for a little while. I made this card for my sister-in-law's birthday. Happy Birthday, Karla!!! The card was inspired by the Stamps and Smiles Sketch Challenge #27.

My Soft Summer card base is a half sheet of Elegant Eggplant cardstock folded in half and layered with Kraft Dotted Patterned Paper from the Stampin' Up Patterns Pack. The image was stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black on paper pierced Whisper White cardstock using the Soft Summer stamp set and colored in using Watercolor Wonder Crayons then layered onto a slightly larger piece of Elegant Eggplant cardstock.

It is hard to tell in this photo but I added some Dazzling Diamonds Glitter to the center of the flowers. I wrapped some white ribbon around the image and tied a knot in front. The shadow is paper pierced Old Olive cardstock layered onto a slightly larger piece of Elegant Eggplant cardstock.

Thanks for stopping by!

Butterfly Haven

This card completes my third shipment of cards to Operation Write Home. It was designed from The Sweet Stop Sketch Challenge #11 (SSS11). My card base is a 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" piece of Real Red cardstock folded in half and layered with a slightly smaller piece of Whisper White cardstock. It is hard to tell in this photo but I paper pierced Basic Black cardstock before layering over the Whisper White cardstock.

I cut and paper pierced a strip of Taken With Teal cardstock to adhere over the base layers. The "Thinking Of You" sentiment was stamped in Basic Black Ink. The image was stamped in Basic Black on Whisper White cardstock with the Sketch Flower Trio stamp and colored in using Stampin Write Markers.

The butterflies were stamped in Basic Black on Whisper White cardstock using the Hero Arts Sketch Butterflies stamp set and colored in using Stampin Write Markers. I cut out the butterflies and attached them using a glue runner then bent the edges up to make it look as though their wings are fluttering.

Hope you're having a wonderful day!

Snowballs

This card was created using the Sketch Saturday Challenge #70. My Chocolate Chip card base is layered with a piece of Soft Sky cardstock with a scalloped edge at the top. Over the Soft Sky cardstock I layered smaller strips of BasicGrey Grind Patterned Paper.

Great Groupings is an old 1999 Stampin' Up stamp set I picked up at a craft sale this summer. I distressed the edges of the Whisper White cardstock with Soft Sky Ink.

The "I Miss You" sentiment was stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black on Whisper White cardstock using the CTMH Say It In Style stamp set and punched out with the Large Oval Punch. To finish off the card I layered a small white Prima Flower over a Large Pink Bazzill Flower and placed a brown satin bow in the center.

Hope you have a great day!

Priceless

I thought after having a long weekend that the week would go by more slowly but here it is friday again already.  Before I forget, I want to mention that today Operation Write Home is celebrating Red Friday. In support of Operation Write Home I'm working on the last card that completes my next shipment of cards.

I made this card for my sister-in-law's birthday. Happy Birthday, Chia!!! The card was created using the Stamps and Smiles Sketch (SASSC23).  The card base is Soft Sky cardstock layered with paper pierced Blue Bayou cardstock. The Groovy Guava cardstock was punched using the Scallop Edge Punch. I tied white grosgrain ribbon around the card and made a bow in the front. The flowers were stamped in Soft Sky Ink on Whisper White cardstock using the Priceless stamp set. The image was punched out and layered on to Groovy Guava cardstock.

A second flower was stamped with Groovy Guava Ink and cut out to adhere over the Soft Sky flower and a clear rhinestone was added to the center of each flower. To finish off the card more rhinestones were added along the scallop border.

Hope you have a wonderful day!

I layered it on to a piece of Perfect Plum cardstock and attached it to the card base using Scotch Foam Mounting Tape. White organdy ribbon was tied around the base and a bow added on the front with a glue dot. To finish off the card I added a couple square gold brads.

Old Fashioned Cupcakes

Wow, back to work already, my long weekend sure flew by in a hurry. This is another card I made using the Crazy For Cupcakes stamp set. I'm not sure where I got the patterned paper as it was eons ago that I got it but the print reminds me of an old fashioned diner.

My card base is Sage Shadow cardstock layered with a slightly smaller piece of the patterned paper. Next I paper pierced the edges of a strip of Perfect Plum cardstock and wrapped Organdy Ribbon around it and tied a knot in front before adhering to the card base. The image was stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black on Whisper White using the Crazy For Cupcakes stamp set and colored in using Stampin' Write Markers. To finish off the card I added a couple Medium Gold Brads.

Sweet Cupcakes

My husband had the week off from work and I closed the books at work in record time so I was able to take a couple days off with him. He's working on screening in our deck so I spent most of yesterday in my craft room making cards for Operation Write Home. Then my sweet tooth kicked in so I made some yummy banana bread to snack on. I think it carried over to my cardmaking though.

My card base is Sage Shadow cardstock layered with a slightly smaller piece of patterned paper. Next I cut a strip of Barely Banana cardstock and punched one side using the Scallop Edge Punch before adhering to the card base. I also wrapped Pink Saddle Stitch Ribbon around the cardbase then attached a bow in front.

The image was stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black on Whisper White using the Crazy For Cupcakes stamp set and colored in using Stampin' Write Markers. Then I layered it on to a slightly larger piece of Sage Shadow cardstock and attached it to the card base with Scotch Foam Mounting Tape to add some depth to the card. To finish off the card I added Pearls along the Scallop Edge and some small pink buttons embellished with White DMC.

Hope you have a great day!

Changito Driver

I knew I had to have this stamp as soon as I saw it. My husband isn't too crazy about it but I think life is too short not to have some fun. The card is for our friends birthday. Happy Birthday, Dennis!!! I also made a few extra cards for Operation Write Home.

The card base is Chocolate Chip cardstock layered with strips of Pop Shuv-it and K-Stall patterned papers from the BasicGrey Skate Shoppe Collection. A very thin strip of Chocolate Chip was then adhered over the seam to cover it up. The shadow layer is Certainly Celery cardstock with Brown Grosgrain Ribbon wrapped around it and through the Pewter Hodgepodge Hardware.

The image was stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black on Whisper White using the Changito Driver Cling Rubber Stamp and was colored in using Watercolor Wonder Crayons. Next I layered it on to a slightly larger piece of Chocolate Chip and adhered it over the shadow layer using Scotch Foam Mounting Tape. To finish off the card I added a couple Medium Pewter Brads.

Thanks for stopping by!

Girlfriends

Today kicks off the first Red Friday over at Operation Write Home. For those of you who don't know, Operation Write Home supports our nation's armed forces by sending blank greeting cards for them to write home on. I just recently learned about Operation Write Home and have already made 77 cards in support of our nation's armed forces.

Today's card was made for my niece’s birthday. Her birthday was actually yesterday but the family isn't able to get together until Sunday to celebrate. Happy Birthday, Ashley!!! She is a fellow stamper so I'm anxious to hear what she thinks. I haven’t told her about my blog yet so I should be safe posting this ahead of time.

The card base is Blue Bayou layered with a slightly smaller piece of Soft Sky cardstock. Next I attached a strip of Pumpkin Pie cardstock layered with a slightly smaller piece of patterned paper from the Creative License Simply Scrappin Kit. I kept the Pumpkin Pie cardstock and patterned paper flush with the edge of the Soft Sky cardstock so that the Blue Bayou cardstock makes a pretty frame around it. Next I wrapped Pumpkin Pie Grosgrain Ribbon around the card base and tied a bow in front.

The image was stamped Basic Black on Whisper White using the Girlfriends stamp set and colored in using Stampin' Write Markers. I paper pierced the edges and punched the corners using the Corner Rounder Punch then layered it on to a slightly larger piece of Blue Bayou cardstock also with rounded corners. The image was attached to the card base using Scotch Foam Mounting Tape.

Hope you have a great weekend!
