The Lion and Lioness

His Card, The Lion (Above) and Her Card, The Lioness (Below)

Today you are in for a special treat because I have two cards to share with you... The Lion and The Lioness! My card duo is inspired by the Stars and Stamps His and Her General Cards Challenge. The challenge is to create a pair of his and her general cards. One general card that may be sent to the man in her life and the other to the woman in his. General cards are any non-holiday cards like Love You, Miss You and Thinking Of You.

During the month of March Operation Write Home had 48 new units request cards which means another 16,000 cards needed on a regular basis. I'm not sure how many total units there are receiving cards at this time but just reading the Hero Blog posts is more than enough to keep me inspired making cards. In addition to the weekly challenges hosted on the Stars and Stamps blog Operation Write Home has a Make Someone's Day challenge going on through May 10th, click here for more details.  While you are there, check out the pics of the really cool prizes being offered too!!!

My Lioness card base is a half sheet of Regal Rose folded in half. Next I cut three 1 1/2 x 3 strips of Sahara Sand cardstock and aligned them along the top edge of the card base. The patterned paper is 2 1/4 x 5 1/2. After adhering the patterned paper I wrapped grosgrain ribbon around the card base and taped the ends down where they are covered up by the image. I tied a cute bow with matching ribbon and attached it using a glue dot.

The image was stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black on a 2 1/4 x 2 3/4 piece of paper pierced Georgia Pacific cardstock using the Medium Lion stamp and was colored in using copic markers. I layered it on to a slightly larger piece of Certainly Celery then Regal Rose cardstock and attached it to the card base using mounting tape. The sentiment was stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black on Georgia Pacific cardstock using the For Every Occasion stamp set then punched out using the Small Oval Punch.

The Lion card was made using the same layout except I swapped out the cardstock, patterned papers and embellishments. The specific supplies used to make the Lion card are detailed below.

Hope you have a wonderful week!
