Lexicon Of Love

Before I share today's card with everyone, I have some super exciting news to share... the OWH Stars and Stamps Spring Break Blog Hop sketch challenge winner.  The lucky winner will receive this awesome blog candy.

A HUGE thanks to all of you who played along in the sketch challenge. The response was overwhelming and heartfelt, not to mention had me scrabbling to come up with more sketches but I loved every minute of it. In total I received 85 requests for sketches and of those I received 33 sketches back for a total of 51 amazing cards! All the cards created are beautiful and I can't wait to feature them on the Stars and Stamps blog!

So... without further ado...  the lucky WINNER is Bev Epstein.  Congratulations, Bev!!!  Shoot me an email with your address and I'll get the box of goodies in the mail to you!  To see the winning sketch and Bev's beautiful card creations, please visit the Stars and Stamps blog on Sunday, May 2nd.

Today I want to share with you the card I created for the Stars and Stamps Sketch Challenge #10.  I had lots of fun playing with this challenge and the tags were a fun change of pace!  Most of the products I used in creating this card are from the Taylored Expressions August Key Ingredients Kit.  I've had this kit since... yep, August and am just now getting around to playing with it, LOL!

My card base is Suede Brown Dark layered with a slightly smaller piece of Papaya Puree Medium cardstock.  I punched all four corners of a slightly smaller piece of Vignette patterned paper then attached it to the card base.  Next I cut a 2 1/4 x 4 1/4 strip of Suede Brown Dark cardstock and attached it to the card base 1 1/8" from the top.  Using my Tombow Mono Multi Liquid Adhesive I added the lace trim along the top and bottom.

The tags were made from a 1 x 1 3/4 piece of Papaya Puree Medium cardstock.  Using my plastic tag template I traced and cut the top corners then distressed the edges using Basic Brown and a sponge.  I added the background words to the tags using the Lexicon Of Love stamp set and Basic Brown ink.  Finally I punched a hole in the top of the tag and threaded Ivory DMC through it.

The flowers were stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black on PTI White using the Flowers For You stamp set and colored in using copic markers.  I cut out the flowers and attached them to the tags using mounting tape.  The sentiment was stamped in Basic Brown on PTI White using the Say It In Style stamp set, punched out using the word window punch then distressed before attaching to the card base.  To add some shimmer to the card I placed medium rhinestones at the center of each flower.

Hope you have an awesome day!

CREATIVE DESIGN:
Stamps: Flowers For You (Recollections), Lexicon Of Love (Stampin' Up) and Say It In Style (CTMH);  Paper: Suede Brown Dark and Papaya Puree Medium (Prism), Very Vanilla (Stampin' Up) and Vignette (Pebbles, Linnie Bell Collection);  Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Basic Brown, Copics R43 and R89;  Other: Lace Trim, Ticket Corner Punch, Word Window Punch, Ivory DMC, Rhinestones, Tag Template, Sponge, Tombow Mono Multi, Mounting Tape.

Spring Breeze

Spring hasn't quite made it to Monticello, MN yet so I thought I'd make this card to help it along a little, LOL! The pre-coloured digital image is from another digital scrapbooking kit I downloaded from Shabby Princess called Spring Breeze. The green backgound paper is a digital freebie from Fred, She Said and is part of the Blossoms Kit Plain Paper Collection.

My Spring Breeze card base is Yoyo Yellow layered with a slightly smaller piece of PTI White cardstock. I trimmed one end using my Scallop Edge Punch before attaching it to the card base. Next I added a 3 3/4 x 4 1/2 piece of paper pierced green Blossoms Kit Plain Paper. Then I cut two 1 1/2 x 3 1/4 strips of Yoyo Yellow cardstock and rounded the corners. I wrapped Wild Wasabi Double Stitched Ribbon around the card base and tied a bow in front.

The leaves peaking out from the image were die cut with my Sizzix Sidekick using Wild Wasabi cardstock and the Little Leaves Sizzlits Die. The pre-coloured digital image was printed on PTI White using my Epson Photo Printer.  I rounded the corners and attached it to the card base using mounting tape. To add some sparkle to the card I added medium Rhinestones along the scallop edge and in the center of each flower.

Hope you have a beautiful day!

Four Legged Friend

Today's cute card was created combining three challenges that are going on right now. The first is the OWH Stars and Stamps mid-week challenge. The challenge is to create any card using a four legged friend. I picked up this doggie stamp set from Michael's a few weeks back because it had this adorable poodle stamp. The poodle reminded me of my little guy, Slater, who passed away a year ago. It was too emotional this first time using the stamp to color the poodle as a male dog so I decided to color it as a female.

I used this weeks OWH Stars and Stamps sketch challenge for the layout. I enlarged the image quite a bit to fit my fluffy, curly poodle on there. I also left off the sentiment. In making this card I also used this month's Stamps R Us challenge which is to make a card using any distressing technique. So, I distressed the edges of both pieces of patterned paper although it is a little hard to tell in this photo. I really like how the distressed edges soften the look of this card and blend the patterned paper with the cardstock.

My card base is a half sheet of Pretty In Pink cardstock folded in half. Next I cut a slightly smaller piece of Brittany patterned paper and distressed the edges before attaching to the card base. For the strip across the center I cut a 2 x 5 1/2 piece of Pretty In Pink cardstock and punched both sides using the Scallop Edge Punch. I layered it with a 1 inch strip of distressed Jaime patterned paper. I paper pierced along the scallop border before attaching the strip to the card base. After it was attached, I wrapped the grosgrain ribbon around the card base and taped the ends down in front where they are covered up by the image. I made a pretty bow and attached it on the right side using a glue dot.

The image was stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black on PTI White using the Woof Woof stamp set and colored in using my new Prismacolor Colored Pencils and Gamsol. I die cut and embossed the image to fit a 2 3/4 x 2 3/4 square using my Classic Squares Small Nestabilities and layered it on to a slightly larger piece of Pretty In Pink cardstock die cut with the Classic Scalloped Squares Small Nestabilities. Poodles are typically show dogs so to add some sparkle I added Kaiser Rhinestones around the image along the scalloped border.

Thanks for coming by and hope you have a great day!

I will be part of the design team from April through September and can't wait to share with you some of the amazing images they have to offer.  The Digi Doodle Shop grand opening is on April 1st... be one of the first 50 customers and you'll be entered into a drawing for a one of a kind custom stamp!  The design team will have some fabulous card creations to share with you!

Before I get to today's card, please let me introduce you to the rest of the Digi Doodle Shop's Best designers:

And now for today's card... my card base is Wild Wasabi layered with a slightly smaller piece of PTI White. I punched out the corners of the dark purple textured paper using the ticket corner punch then adhered it to the card base. Next I cut a 1 1/4 x 5 inch strip of Lavendar Lace cardstock and layered it in the center of the card base.

The beautiful Iris used on today's card is a digital image from the Digi Doodle Shop.  I printed the image on PTI White using my Epson Photo Printer and colored it in using copic markers. I paper pierced the edges before layering it on to a slightly larger piece of Wild Wasabi cardstock. Silver Metallic Ribbon was wrapped around the image and a knot tied in front before attaching it to the card base using mounting tape. To further embellish the card I added small silver brads in each corner.

Hope you have a wonderful day!

OWH Spring Break Blog Hop

Hi everyone! Welcome to the Operation Write Home Spring Break Bloghop! I'm the second stop on the blog hop so if you arrived here from the STARS AND STAMPS blog then you are in the right place but if you've just happened along you will want to pull up a comfortable chair, grab your favorite beverage and head on over to the STARS AND STAMPS blog so you can start from the beginning!

For those of you who don't already know,
Operation Write Home supports our nation's armed forces by sending blank handmade greeting cards for them to write home on as well as cards of gratitude to encourage them. So if you enjoy making greeting cards check out the tips for cardmakers here and you are on your way! Please note that the deadline for sending in Mother's Day cards is coming up on April 1st.

For today's bloghop I created another card using the beautiful Tulip Trio digital image created by Tracey-Lynn Miller from Fred, She Said. If you haven't seen the gorgeous card and tutorial prepared by Darsie Bruno, Designer for Fred, She Said, you will want to stop by the
Stars and Stamps blog to check it out!

My Tulip Trio card base is Wild Wasabi layered with a slightly smaller piece of PTI White cardstock then Floral Tapestry: Amethyst patterned paper. I added a strip of dark purple textured paper then wrapped white organdy ribbon around the card base to soften the look. My image is the Tulip Trio digital image from Fred, She Said printed on PTI White and colored in using copic markers. I paper pierced the edges and layered it on to a slightly larger piece of Wild Wasabi cardstock before attaching to the card base with mounting tape. To embellish the card I added medium silver brads in each corner and a silver metallic bow at the base of the tulip stems.

And now on to the goodies! Did I mention that I was offering a challenge and some awesome BLOG CANDY!!! Here is a photo of the BLOG CANDY to get you inspired.

For a chance to win all this I'm asking for your help in coming up with more sketch challenges for the Stars and Stamps blog. I've prepared a bunch of sketches but still need your talent and creativity! So, for a chance to win my blog candy all you have to do is create a card using one of my sketches, that's it, super easy! To receive a sketch, simply send me an email with your name and if you're also a blogger, your blog name and blog URL and I will reply with a sketch. Don't blog... that's OK, you don't have to be a blogger to participate.  Everyone is welcome to play along for a chance at some BLOG CANDY!

Once you get the sketch, feel free to create as many cards as you like using that sketch then send me a photo of each of your cards!  I will enter your name in the drawing once for each different card you create using the sketch.  Please keep in mind that the cards should be A2 sized and have no glitter!  I'm hoping you will wait to post the card(s) on your blog until the same day we post the sketch and card(s) on the Stars and Stamps blog.  I will send you a confirmation email to let you know when the sketch and your card(s) will be featured on the Stars and Stamps blog. We will include your name, blog name and blog URL on the Stars and Stamps blog when we post the sketch and your card(s) so everyone is able to check out all your other wonderful creations!

You have until noon on Monday, March 29th to send me a photo of your card(s)!  Monday night I will put all the names in a bowl and have my wonderful husband draw a lucky winner. I will post the winner on my blog and also send them an email to find out where to send their goodies! Hope you all play along and can't wait to see what you come up with!

Before I go, I want to say THANK YOU to Sandy for not only coordinating this blog hop but for all the wonderful things that she does, without her all this wouldn't be possible; to the shippers for their hard work week after week receiving and sending out all the cards that arrive on their doorstep; to my fellow cardmakers for joining together to make a world of difference and most importantly, THANK YOU to all the heroes out there! Thank you for your strength and courage in serving and protecting our nation!!!

I remember all of you every time I think of the heroe living right here at home with me. My husband served in the army for four years while I attended college and we wrote to each other almost every day! Back then wonderful organizations like Operation Write Home didn't exist so we used plain writing paper but it would have been so wonderful to receive handmade cards from my husband knowing he had personally selected a specific card just to send to me! Now that I'm a stamper I love sharing my passion for creating cards with others and Operation Write Home is the perfect way for me to do so!

Well, that's it for me!  I better stop now if we are all going to make it through the hop sometime today, LOL!  Your next stop on the blog hop is DAWN, so head on over to her blog, THE CHATTY STAMPER, and enjoy the rest of the bloghop! I'm sure you will love her fabulous Watercolor Flower Tutorial and be just as amazed by all her wonderful card creations as I am.

Thanks for joining the blog hop today and I hope you all play along for a chance to win some blog candy!

Andrea's Kitties

I'm branching out from digital stamps to digital paper and loving it! Today's card features digital paper from the Spontaneous Delight digital scrapbooking kit available at Shabby Princess. The funny thing is that I printed the paper intending to make a fun St. Patrick's Day card for the family using this adorable St. Patty's Day Bear digital stamp from the Digi Doodle Shop but my husband declared the card very non St. Patrick's Day (I really can't blame him though since I don't see much green in this card, LOL!) so I ended up swapping the image for this cute little girl with the kittens instead.

My card base is Basic Black layered with a slightly smaller piece of PTI White cardstock then paper pierced Shabby Stripe patterned paper. The shadow layer is a 3x4 piece of Basic Black layered with a slightly smaller piece of paper pierced Tempting Turquoise cardstock. The image was stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black on PTI White using the Andrea's Kitties stamp and colored in using copic markers. I cut out the image and attached it to the card base using mounting tape.

The sentiment was also stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black on PTI White and punched out using the Modern Label Punch and attached to the card base with mounting tape. To embellish the card I layered two different size and color Bazzill paper flowers, added a large jewel in the center and adhered it to the card base with a glue dot.

Hope you have a fantastic day!

Fairy Girl

Today's card was created for the mid-week challenge hosted on the Stars and Stamps blog. Tammy challenged all of us to create a card using the paper piecing technique and even included a tutorial to get us started. The Pure Innocence stamps from My Favorite Things are perfect for this technique so I pulled out the Fairy Girl stamp set because I haven't had a chance to use it yet.

My card base is Dark Chocolate layered with a slightly smaller piece of PTI White cardstock. Using my Ticket Corner Punch I finished the edges on a piece of Love Bandit Bee Mine patterned paper and attached it to the card base. Next I cut a 2 inch strip of Dark Chocolate cardstock and punched both sides using the Scallop Edge Punch. I adhered this to the card base then wrapped Sheer Green Ribbon around it and tied a bow in front.

The image was stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black on PTI White using the Fairy Girl stamp set and colored in using copic markers. I stamped the image a second time on the Love Bandit Bee Mine patterned paper, cut out the dress and taped it over the dress in the image stamped on PTI White. I then cut out and embossed the image using my Standard Circles Large Nestabilities. I layered it on to a piece of Dark Chocolate cardstock cut out using the Classic Scallop Circles Large Nestabilities then attached it to the card base using mounting tape. To finish off the card I added small rhinestones in each corner and a large rhinestone on the lace of the girl's dress.

Hope you have a marvelous monday!

Dancing Daisy

WOW, this beautiful card is the first I've created using digital patterned paper and pre-coloured digital images. The gorgeous patterned paper and Dancing Daisy pre-coloured digital image are from Fred, She Said! For those of you who haven't heard, Tracey-Lynn Miller from Fred, She Said created a wonderful Tulip Trio digital image for the Operation Write Home cardmakers hosted on the Stars and Stamps blog. You will also want to check out the amazing card and tutorial prepared by Darsie Bruno, Designer for Fred, She Said.

My Dancing Daisy card base is a half sheet of Pixie Pink cardstock folded in half. Next I printed, cut out and layered a 3 3/4 x 2 1/2 piece each of Luscious Chocolate and Striped Gold patterned paper on to a piece of PTI White cardstock. I wrapped Fresh Snow Grosgrain Ribbon around it and taped the ends on the backside before attaching to the card base. The image was printed on PTI White using my Epson Photo Printer, cut out and layered on to a slightly larger piece of Pixie Pink cardstock then attached to the card base using mounting tape. To embellish the card I added three Pearl Dew Drops along the lower right corner of the card.

Hope your day is dancing with joy!

Tulip Trio

I'm really excited to share today's card with everyone because the beautiful tulip image is a digital stamp created by Tracey-Lynn Miller, owner of Fred, She Said in honor of the Operation Write Home Half and Half Challenge hosted on the Stars and Stamps blog to inspire the cardmakers in making Mother's Day Cards. Using the Tulip Trio digital image, Darsie Bruno, Designer for Fred, She Said created a fabulous card and tutorial to get us all started. A HUGE thanks goes out to Tracey and Darsie for the wonderful digital image, card and tutorial!

My Tulip Trio card base is Wild Wasabi layered with a slightly smaller piece of PTI White cardstock then Floral Tapestry: Amethyst patterned paper. The shadow layer is paper pierced dark purple textured paper that I've had soooo long I don't even remember where I got it anymore but it seemed gorgeous on this card so I finally let go and decided to use it! I'm still learning to use those coveted favorite items and haven't quite learned to quit hording them yet, LOL!

The digital image was printed on PTI White using my Epson Photo Printer and colored in using copic markers. I paper pierced the edges then layered it on to a slightly larger piece of Wild Wasabi cardstock before attaching to the card base with mounting tape. To embellish the card I added two small silver brads on the shadow layer and a metallic silver bow over the tulip stems.

Hope you have a beautiful day!

Pink Silhouette

As I was typing the creative design for this card I realized this might be the first card in a long time that I haven't embellished with brads, buttons, rhinestones, gems or pearls!  Hang on while I go check my temperature, LOL!  The layout I used for this card is one I seem to come back to time and time again!  Something about it's simplicity and elegance appeals to me.  Whatever it is, I always love the cards I create using it!

Today's card base is Basic Black layered with a slightly smaller piece of Pink Passion cardstock then a 2 1/2 strip of Black Divine patterned paper.  The image was stamped in Pink Passion on PTI White using the Garden Silhouettes stamp set.  I paper pierced the edges before layering on to a slightly larger piece of Basic Black cardstock and attaching to the card base with mounting tape.  To embellish the card I wrapped White Ribbon around the card base and tied a knot in front.

Hope you have a wonderful day!

Bubblegum LOVE

I had so much fun playing with the Stamps R Us Color Challenge last month that when I saw Taylored Expressions Black and White with a splash of color challenge I decided to keep on playing with my Black and White papers but pulled out some Bubblegum pink cardstock to go along with it.

My card base is Basic Black layered with a slightly smaller piece of Bubblegum cardstock then Black Flourish patterned paper. Next I wrapped Fresh Snow ribbon around the card base and taped the ends down in front where they will be covered up by the image. The image or background was stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black on PTI White using the Design Block Flourish stamp.

The word LOVE was die cut from Bubblegum cardstock using my Sizzix Sidekick and Block Party Alphabet. Below the word LOVE I attached three large Kaiser Rhinestones. The image was layered on to a slightly larger piece of Bubblegum then Basic Black cardstock then attached to the card base using Mounting Tape.

Next I tied a bow using more of the Fresh Snow Ribbon and adhered it over the image using glue dots. The butterfly was stamped in Pink Passion using the Great Friends stamp set on PTI White and embossed using Clear Embossing Powder then cut out. I attached it to the image using a small piece of mounting tape then embellished the center with some small Kaiser Rhinestones.

Hope you take time to spread some love today!

Pretty In Pink

This card was made with the last of my Delilah patterned paper.  I struggled forever trying to find the perfect ribbon for this card and finally went with this pretty pink designer ribbon.  My card base is Pinecone layered with a 3 x 4 piece of Delilah Stripe and 2 1/4 x 4 strip of Pretty In Pink embossed with the Cuttle Swiss Dots Embossing Folder. To cover the seam I used a 1 inch strip of Yam cardstock.

The image was stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black on PTI White using the Natural Beauty stamp set and colored in using Copic Markers.  I paper pierced the edges around the image then cut the paper in to a 2 1/4 x 3 1/2 tag and layered it on to a slightly larger piece of Pinecone before attaching it to the card base using mounting tape. To embellish the card I added the pretty bow and a couple pink buttons threaded with DMC White.

Thanks for stopping by!

For You, MOM

Today I want to share with you another card I created for the Operation Write Home Half and Half Challenge.  The challenge is to create a selection of cards with half of them being either Mother's or Father's Day cards and the other half general cards!  The inspiration for this card started with the desire to use my stash of letter stickers.  If you look through my gallery you'll notice that I rarely use a lot of sentiments so I thought using my letter stickers for names or words would be a perfect way around that!

Today's card base is Basic Black layered with Bubblegum cardstock then two strips of Black Flourish patterned paper.  The image was stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black on a 2 1/2 x 2 1/2 piece of PTI White using the Great Friend stamp set.  I rouned the top two corners then layered it on to a 2 3/4 x 4 piece of Basic Black then a slightly larger piece of Bubblegum cardstock.  I also rounded the top two corners on the mat layers.

Before attaching the image to the card base I wrapped White Organdy Ribbon around it and tied a beautiful bow in front.  I added the word "MOM" using my DCWV Letter Stickers.  The butterfly was stamped using my Pink Passion craft pad on PTI White then embossed with clear embossing powder and cut out.  I attached the butterfly to the image using a small piece of mounting tape.  To embellish the card I added medium Kaiser Rhinestones along the Basic Black cardstock under the work "MOM" as well as small Kaiser Rhinestones to the center of the butterfly!

Hope you have a beautiful day!

CREATIVE DESIGN:

Wee Henry Fishing

Today's card was inspired by the Stars and Stamps Masculine Card Challenge. The image is a digital stamp donated by Hambo Stamps to inspire us cardmakers in making Father's Day cards for Operation Write Home. A HUGE thank you goes out to Hambo Stamps for their generosity!

My card base is Wild Wasabi layered with a slightly smaller piece of Bowling Shoes patterned paper. The shadow layer is a 3 1/2 x 3 1/2 piece of Long Underwear patterned paper. I still chuckle just thinking about those patterned paper names, LOL! Someone at BasicGrey has a wonderful sense of humor!

Next I rolled out black magic mesh and cut the ends along the card base. I added the magic mesh because I wanted something that looked like a fishing net! The digital image was printed on PTI White using my photo printer and colored in using copic markers. I punched the corners using my Ticket Corner Punch then layered it on to a slightly larger piece of Wild Wasabi cardstock. Before attaching the digital image to the card base I embellished each corner with a small black brad.

The cool thing about digital images is that you can print them in various sizes. I couldn't find a cattails stamp in my stash (bugger that) so I printed the digital image to fit full size on a sheet of cardstock, colored the cattail in then cut it out to use as an embellishment.  I stamped the sentiment in Memento Tuxedo Black on PTI White using the Say It In Style stamp set, cut out each word and arranged them along the image.

Hope you have a marvelous monday!
