Ho-Ho-Holidays!

Hi everyone!  I couldn't resist going all out on this card, even had to go back and take off some flowers I'd added and replace them with this holiday sentiment... per my husband's suggestion, LOL!!!  The cute santa image is the Santa Tree digital stamp from Bugaboo Stamps.  My card was inspired by this week's Stamps R Us holiday card challenge.

My card base is Chocolate Chip cardstock layered with PTI White then Fairland Street patterned paper.  The strip is Chocoalte Chip layered with Wonderful patterned paper and the shadow layer is Chocolate Chip layered with Nestled patterned paper.  The image was printed on PTI White and colored in using copic markers.

The sentiment is from the Stampin' Up Ho-Ho-Holidays stamp set.  I stamped it on PTI White using Memento Tuxedo Black then punched it out using the Large Oval Punch.  To embellish the card I added a strip of ribbon and bow using Riding Hood Red Striped Grosgrain Ribbon and added a Crystal Trinket Pin.  I also added several Snow Pearls on the image and along the top of the card.  Santa was highlighted using White Liquid Applique.

Thanks for stopping by... hope you have a purr-fect day!

Christmas Tree

Hi everyone!  Hope you had a marvelous Thanksgiving!  The weather turned out nice and we didn't get nearly as much snow as they predicted so we were able to make the two hour drive to my in-laws after all.  I'm loving all the leftovers because less cooking means more time in my craft room.  Today I'm sharing my first Christmas card of the season.  The beautiful Christmas Tree is a digital stamp from my talented friend Alissa who recently opened a new digi shop, Starry Nights Studio!

The card base is Bazzill cardstock layered with PTI White then Forest patterned paper.  The shadow layer is Chocolate Chip layered on Bazzill finished using the Fleur De Lis Edge Punch.  I couldn't resist adding some gold stickles along the border.

The image was printed on PTI White and colored in using copic markers.  I paper pierced the edges before layering on to Bazzill cardstock.  To embellish the tree I added red rhinestones for the ornaments and a bow finished with a brown button threaded with DMC White.  I also added a metallic gold dew drop in each corner.

Thanks for stopping by... hope you have a purr-fect day!

Barrel Of Fall Blossoms

Hi everyone! Happy Thanksgiving! I'm popping in quick this morning to share a last autumn colored card before heading out to spend the day with my husband's family. Normally we would stay late and play cards but my husband has to work tomorrow and this week we found out that my cat, Buddy, has diabetes so we will come home earlier to give him insulin. Today's card was created using the beautiful Barrel Of Fall Blossoms digital image I won playing along in the A Day For Daisies Black Out challenge.

My card base is Ruby Red layered with More Mustard then Fall Stripe patterned paper and a strip of More Mustard cardstock.  The image was printed on PTI White and colored in using copic markers.  I die cut and embossed the image using Classic Ovals Small Nestabilities and layered it on to Ruby Red die cut and embossed using my new Beaded Ovals Nestabilities.  To embellish the card I added a bow and sunflower dew drops in each corner.

Thanks for stopping by... hope you have a purr-fect day!

Chilly Snowman

Hi everyone!  I recently discovered this awesome site, Free Digital Stamps, a blog that lists free digital images all in one place!  In one of the posts I grabbed this Chilly Snowman from Spyder's Corner.  Isn't this snowman a little cutie!!!  As for my card, I basically ended up adding any and every embellishment that comes in the shape of a snowflake, LOL!!!

My card base is Baja Breeze layered with Blue Bayou then Snow Flurries patterned paper.  The shadow layer is Blue Bayou finished on both sides using the Scallop Dot Punch.  I also wrapped white ribbon around it and taped the ends down on the back side.  The image was printed on PTI White and colored in using copic markers.  I die cut and embossed the image using Classic Ovals Small Nestabilities and layered it on to Baja Breeze die cut using my new Beaded Ovals Nestabilities.

To embellish the cards I added a white bow finished with a button threaded with DMC White.  The snowflake is Blue Bayou cardstock punched using the Snowflake Punch layered with a clear snowflake then a white snowflake brad finished with a snow pearl.  I also added two snow pearls in some of the corners.

Thanks for stopping by... hope you have a purr-fect day!

Fall Wheelbarrow

I'm such a HUGE fan of coloring images and this Fall Wheelbarrow digital image from Karen's Doodles was lots of fun to color!  My husband is into woodworking and loves that I colored the edge of the wheelbarrel dark brown compared to the face of the wood.

My card base is PTI Dark Brown layered with a slightly smaller piece of PTI White then Autumn Blaze patterned paper.  The shadow layer is Old Olive embossed using the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots Embossing Folder.

The image was printed on PTI White and colored in using copic markers.  I paper pierced around the edges then layered it on to a larger piece of PTI Dark Brown.  To embellish the card I added a bow finished with a button threaded with DMC White and some rhinestones in the corners.

Passel o' Pumpkins

Hi everyone! The weather is a lot cooler here and now that Halloween is past I'm getting in the mood for autumn cards and Thanksgiving! I was inspired to dig out all my fall colored papers and make this quick and easy card using some bright patterned paper from K&Company. The Passel o' Pumpkins is a coloring page digital image from Elizabeth Dulemba.

My card base is More Mustard layered with a slightly smaller piece of Flourishes White then Fall Stripe patterned paper. The shadow layer is Ruby Red finished on one side using the Heartbeat Edge Scissors.  The image was printed on Flourishes White cardstock and colored in using copic markers.  The image is beautiful all by itself so I simply paper pierced around the edges and layered it on to a slightly larger piece of More Mustard. To embellish the card I added a sunflower dew drop in each corner.

Thanks for stopping by... hope you have a purr-fect day!

Snowfriends

Hi everyone! I'm a total sap for snowmen stamps and was delighted to hear that The Stamping Boutique is sponsoring this week's Stamps R Us challenge! The snowman stamp I used on today's card is the Snowfriends digital stamp from The Stamping Boutique.

It is not very often that I do so but I actually used white for my card base then layered it with this beautiful brown paper I got forever ago from Creative Memories.  The patterned papers are from Carolee's Creations.  The challenge was to create a card using sparkle and scallops so I added some glitter for snow and lots of bling along the scalloped edge.  It is hard to tell in the photos but the white ribbon also has some sparkle to it.

Thanks for stopping by... hope you have a purr-fect day!

  • Stamps: Snowfriends (The Stamping Boutique)
  • Paper: Soft Sky, Brown Cardstock (Creative Memories), PTI White, Winter Frost and Scarf Stripe Patterned Paper (Carolee's Creations)

OWH Be My Valentine Bloghop

Hi everyone!  Welcome to the Operation Write Home Be My Valentine Bloghop!  If you arrived here from Sandy's blog, It's A Colourful World, then you are in the right place but if you've just happened along you will want to pull up a comfortable chair, grab your favorite beverage then head on over to the OWH Stars and Stamps blog so you can start from the beginning!

Operation Write Home supports our nation's armed forces by sending blank handmade greeting cards for them to write home on as well as cards of gratitude to encourage them.  If you love making handmade cards and want to be part of a wonderful group of crafters supporting a great cause you've found your new home!  We are passed the deadline for holiday cards and busy making valentine's before the January 7th deadline.

I first discovered Operation Write Home on the SCS Cards for a Cause forum and am so very glad I did.  At that same time stampers were forming blog groups on SCS and I very much wanted to join a blog group with other stampers who were also making cards for Operation Write Home so I followed a link from the Operation Write Home main blog to Stamphaven where I pestered everyone about starting an OWH blog group.  Of course it was just before the big holiday card deadlines and my timing was way off but the sweetheart that Sandy is she still left me a comment saying she would look into it after the holidays.

The holidays came and went and I started to forget about it then one day I recevied a newsletter from Operation Write Home announcing the OWH Stars and Stamps blog.  I can't tell you how overjoyed I was to hear the news and have been a HUGE fan ever since!  Shortly after that I happily joined the admin team and have been the crazy voice behind the sketch challenges ever since.

Although I'm not leaving Operation Write Home and will continue to play along in the challenges as much as possible after a lot of thought it is with a heavy heart I share with all of you my decision to step down from the admin team so I'm able to spend more time making cards again.  I'm very honored that I was able to share all I have with OWH Stars and Stamps and am blessed for all the wonderful friends I've made!  You are all the very BEST!!!  A special thanks to Sandy for her heart of gold!

I also have the pleasure of introducing to you the new Sketch Challenge Coordinator but before I do so I have a HUGE favor to ask!!! Operation Write Home crafters particpated in the JoAnn's Craft For A Cause Contest and Operation Write Home made it into the top 3 for a chance to win $50,000.  $50,000 would sure go a long way towards covering shipping costs, especially during the busy holiday season! You decide which charity receives the $50,000 by voting HERE. The other two organizations, Project Linus and American Cancer Society, are equally as wonderful but it would mean the world to me if you are not already voting for one of them if you would take a few moments to vote for Operation Write Home. You are able to vote once per email address per 24-hour period. Voting ends at midnight on December 4th.

And now I'm very excited to introduce to you the new Sketch Challenge Coordinator, Julie Fountain! Julie will bring lots of fresh new ideas to OWH Stars and Stamps as well as more sketches to inspire you. To see Julie's beautiful artwork hop on over to her blog, Handmade by Julie, and enjoy the rest of the bloghop!

Thanks for hopping by... hope you have a purr-fect day!

Wishing You Autumn Joy

Hi everyone! I love autumn because the weather is perfect and the colors so vibrant! The colors I used on today's card were inspired by all the beautiful trees in our neighborhood that recently turned color. The pumpkin image is from the Autumn Blessings digital stamp set by Clear Dollar Stamps! I'm thinking I got just a little carried away with all the layers trying to add all my favorite fall colors.

On today's card I paired Stampin' Up colors True Thyme, More Mustard and Ruby Red with Spicy Circles patterned paper from BoBunny Press.  The sentiment was punched using the Designer Label Punch and layered on to Ruby Red cardstock to make it stand out a bit more.  The shadow layer is True Thyme finished on both sides using the Arch Lattice Punch.

Thanks for stopping by... hope you have a purr-fect day!

Miss You Like Crazy

This is a really simply card I mass produced for Operation Write Home!  I have a box of 180 other cards waiting to be mailed off but still have room for another 50 cards to fill the box and just can't seem to find the time to get them done!  On November 13th Operation Write Home is having a Be My Valentine Blog Hop in honor of Veteran's Day and my goal is to make enough cards by then to fill the box and finally send it on it's way!!!

Today's card base is Chocolate Chip layered with a slightly smaller piece of Kiwi Kiss.  I rounded the corners on the Kiwi Kiss then added a piece of Whisper White finished on both sides with the Eyelet Border Punch.  The patterned paper is Fennel from the SEI Dill Blossom Collection.

The image was stamped in Kiwi Kiss on Whisper White cardstock and the sentiment in Chocolate Chip.  I rounded the corners of the image and layered it on to a slightly larger piece of Chocolate Chip cardstock before attaching to the card base with mounting tape.  To finish off the card I added two brown felt flowers embellished with medium white brads.

Thanks for stopping by... hope you have a purr-fect day!

Perfect Plum Flowers

Hi everyone! A few months ago I started a second blog, Feline Playful, to keep track of all my favorite challenges and I'm excited to share that today Feline Playful is kicking off "The Cat's Meow"!  The Cat's Meow is featuring fantastic prize giveaway sponsored by some of my favorite online stores and challenge blogs.  Hope you will stop by Feline Playful and join in the fun!  While you are there don't forget to enter the draw for a chance to win a $10 gift certificate to the Digi Doodle Shop!

Today's card was created using the Natural Beauty stamp set from Stampin' Up which is actually the stamp set I used on the very first few cards I blogged.  How is that for coming full circle!  My card base Perfect Plum layered with a slightly smaller piece of Flourishes Classic White then Pale Plum cardstock.  I embossed the Pale Plum cardstock using the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots Embossing Folder and distressed the edges for a softer look.  The two banner strips are Kraft cardstock.

The image was stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black on Flourishes Classic White Cardstock using the Natural Beauty stamp set and colored in using copic markers.  For the leaves I used G94, G99 and V93, V95 and V99 on the flowers.  I paper pierced around the edge of the image then layered it on to a slightly larger piece of Perfect Plum cardstock before attaching to the card base with mounting tape.  To embellish the card I made two flowers by punching flowers from Perfect Plum cardstock and finished each of them with a button threaded with DMC White.

Thanks for stopping by... hope you have a purr-fect day!

Thanks Tweety Bird

Hi everyone! I meant to post this card earlier but my husband surprised me with tacos and a movie tonight, how sweet is that!!! We went to Due Date which is totally hiliarious!!! So I'm popping in before bedtime to share a card I created with this cute little boy digital stamp from Sliekje Digi Stamps!

My card base is Chocolate Chip layered with a slightly smaller piece of Glossy Silver cardstock then Bashful Blue patterned paper from the Stampin' Up Prints Pack. I distressed the edges of the patterned paper with a sponge and Chocolate Chip ink as well as with an edge distresser so I guess you could say the edges are double distressed! The green strip is Certainly Celery finished on each side using the Diamond Edge Punch. I then covered it with a strip of Silver Magic Mesh.

The image was printed on PTI White and colored in using copic markers. I die cut and embossed it with Labels Two Nestabilites then distressed the edges with Chocolate Chip ink. I die cut a larger label from Chocolate Chip cardstock for the shadow layer. To embellish the card I added a medium silver brad in each corner.

Thanks for stopping by... hope you have a purr-fect day!

Pretty Pink Poppy

I was so busy making Halloween cards in October that I missed out on making a pink card for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  Although October is now over I still wanted to take a few moments to create a special card for the occasion, especially since I'll be getting my first mammogram this month!  Today's card was also created with this week's Stamps R Us challenge in mind, using buttons and bows!

My card base is Night Of Navy layered with a slightly smaller piece of PTI White then DCWV pink cardstock.  The shadow layer is a 1 1/4 strip of Basic Grey Ferris Wheel patterned paper layered on to a slightly larger piece of Night Of Navy cardstock.  The poppy image is a beautiful digital stamp from Daisy Doodles that I printed on PTI White and colored in using copic markers.

I paper pierced around the edges of the image then layered it on to a slightly larger piece of Night Of Navy before attaching to the card base with mounting tape.  To embellish the card I made a pretty bow using 3/8" White Grosgrain Ribbon and finished it off with a transparent pink button threaded with DMC White.  I also added two pearl dew drops in the upper right corner.

Thanks for stopping by... hope you have a purr-fect day!
