April With Hearts

Hi everyone! It's time again for a new challenge at The Pixie Cottage. As always, there are two parts to the challenge and you may choose either or both to play along with. We have a fun new sketch and this week's theme is "Back To School".

My card was inspired by this week's sketch. I shrunk it to fit an A2 size card.  The beautiful image is the April With Hearts rubber stamp by Pixie Cottage Stamps.

My card base is Cranberry Crisp layered with Basic Black then strips of Ever After patterned paper stitched around the edges. The image was stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black on White Cardstock and colored in using copic markers. I die cut and embossed the image using Labels Eighteen Nestabilities and distressed the edges with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. To ground the image I punched out a piece of Cranberry Crisp using the Word Window Punch. To embellish the card I added tons of black pearls.

Thanks for stopping by... hope you have a purr-fect day!

Hi everyone! After creating this card I'm ready to admit that I don't have a vintage bone in my body, at least when it comes to cardmaking, LOL! My card features the COLOR version of the Vintage Auto digital stamp set by Doodle Pantry. My card base is Sahara Sand layered with White Cardstock then digital paper stitched around the edges. The image was printed on White Cardstock then layered on Sahara Sand. Clear Dollar Stamps Blog Hop

Hello everyone! Welcome to the Clear Dollar Stamps Monthly Blog Hop! If you arrived here from Barb's blog, Barb's Best Creations, then you are in the right place but if you've just happened along or are popping in for a visit you'll want to head on over to the Clearly iStamp blog to start from the beginning.

The theme of today's blog hop is "These Are A Few Of My Favorite Things". I didn't realize until I started typing this how many favorite things I really have, LOL! My favorite techniques are stitching and paper piercing. My favorite embellishments are edge punches and bling (pearls, dew drops, brads, you name it...) When I'm stamping I love wearing my favorite PJ's, housecoat and slippers. These cute bunny slippers give me warm fuzzies and really inspire me to create.

I designed this card for a close friend at work.  We're always asking each other if it's time to go home and put on our PJ's yet, LOL!!!  On my card I used the pre-colored digital image and matching digital paper from the Bunny Slippers stamp set by Clear Dollar Stamps.  I also used some of my favorite things... stitching, paper piercing, an edge punch and pearls!

Well, that's it for me!  The next stop on this blog hop is the very talented Shell.  I'm sure you will love her creative projects as much as I do so without further ado hop on over to her blog, Shell's Stuff, and enjoy the rest of the blog hop.

Thanks for stopping by... hope you have a purr-fect day!

Glorious Greenhouse

Hi everyone! It's Wednesday and time for a new challenge at The Pixie Cottage. There are two parts to the challenge and you may choose either or both to play along with. We have a fun new sketch and this week's theme is "A Time To Learn". A few of my lovely followers have commented that they'd love to learn how to stitch on their cards so I thought I'd share links to the tutorials I used when I learned how to stitch.

After listening to me talk about how much I love the look of stitching on cards my wonderful husband surprised me with a Janome Sew-Mini.  I watched these videos on Stamp TV by Gina K. several times to learn how to stitch and it ended up being so much easier than I thought. I wasn't a natural at it and actually had to watch the videos several times but am so glad I tried. Now I stitch on almost every card I make.  So if I can do it, so can you!

"A TIME TO LEARN" HOW TO STITCH
I started out with the straight stitch until I got the hang of it and have since learned how to do the zig zag stitch!  To get this stitch even on the card I've learned the trick is to start in the very corner.

Using this sketch for inspiration I created today's card highlighting the Glorious Greenhouse digital stamp by Pixie Cottage Stamps.

My card base is Always Artichoke layered with PTI White then patterned paper stitched around the edges.  Next I wrapped pretty brown lace and a strip of ribbon around the case base and taped the ends down on the back side.  The image was printed on PTI White and colored in using copic markers.  To embellish the card I added a matching bow and two dark brown buttons threaded with DMC White.

Thanks for stopping by... hope you have a purr-fect day!
